Collaging with Photos x 4
Using crap photos taken with a Lomo Actionshot, here's some more collage action.
New Years Day Collage
Yep, there is is. The first collage of 2013. I'm not going to overcommit to a 'one a day' thingy, but I want to commit to generally 'doing more' collaging. The stripy orange bit is an airplane sick bag, the chap+house from a skating mag, a building from a real photo and a bit of orange from a note pad. I signed it and everything!
Text in collage
One of my favourite things, text in collage. That and people in collages. It's a challenge to find the right words, but a certain eureka moment when it happens. Vladimir Putin has a great evil face, and that woman is looking into a shop window, although it would be better if she were looking intently at her mate.
Humorous collages of late
Who is this man? His face haunts me. If you know, please say.

New Collages
Well, not quite new, but un-documented and floating around the studio. A massive tyre, some ofd Lomo's and a changing room's wallpaper.
Working in an office!
I guess I do work in an office, but it's a non-stuffy one (apart from the lack of windows that is)

Sketchbook Scans: new stamp
A birthday, two new cut-out stamps. I'm making smaller circles from my tax disk collection and also cutting up the Korean financial times, wth a stamp-shaped cutter. Problem is, when you discover a new tool like this, you want to make stamps and shapes out of everything. These two are sketchbook scans, may go further with the financial times stamps... en mass. ?
Shower Door Glue Moulds
These glue moulds are like an untidy and unorganised version of the piece 'Ladle Moulds' I exhibited at the Surface/Space/Time exhibition back in 2009. This time, working on a flat surface. It's made with Drawing inks and a pva/water mix. I’m have been adding bit by bit for the past year. It takes a long long time to dry, so it’s been another ongoing thing, which is now done and I can now find another use for the massive shower door which has been looming over my studio space (as much as a glass door can loom)Here is some more about the Glue Mould / Glue Quilt process

Some Sketchbook Scans
Still thinking about how great this weekend was, full-on-studio-time. So good to commit days and elongated hours to it, not just snatching some time here and there, or never going at all. I completed six frames, started and finished - ready to hang. That's never happened! On top of that I created a couple of collages, and wrote lots of notes in my sketchbook. Completely productive and fulfilling! Here's some of the scanned sketchbook pages: Don't know where this came from in my head, but I like it. Poo Bin / Camping. Using unwanted photographs and a nice thin pen. These two go hand in hand. You know when you're in multitasking flow, and you have things going on in different areas of the place you're working in, and things like this just appear out of you? No? I didn't either - that's why this weekend was so great!
Practice Collages for new project
Forgotten work
A new year de-clutter. I've been organising things on my computer better. Part of this involved wading through thousands of photographs, deleting and shifting around. Collating the images of things I've made into one big folder. It's been a bit of a mission, but also enjoyable to be reminded of things I've created/found and forgotten about, such as these:Collages, all together. These beautiful keys, which belong to the caretaker at Redland Girls School.Trying new methods of drying the 'glue moulds' this patch never, ever dried.Complete glue moulds, peeled off a strong plastic surface. So brightly coloured although I never used much ink.My father's difficult hand writing. A bad list! More of a statement. The first sewing drawing, during a residency at a secondary school.A little brainstorm which sums up everything. Colour and repetition.
Sketchbook Scans: Collage
Fantastic new studio and a successful Light Box means that life is good. Here's some stuff I've been making in my sketchbook recently.
Now I have some big space and a fortnight long holiday, I plan to make some big things, get out of the sketchbook and onto the floor.
Here's the collage stuff. I can't get enough. I have some beautiful origami paper from Muji which supplies the vibrancy.
Big in Brighton
A weekend in Brighton with Angela Chick and Yannik Eilers. We had big ideas: making miniature underwater sets for Yannik to shoot using his new underwater camera. This didn't happen, but we thought of these ideas to go with the underwater theme:
putting milk in the water to make it cloudy
underwater treasure coral
an underwater butcher selling horses and man-meat
an underwater office
putting dye in the water
putting our faces in the water
I collaged a lot and here is what I made:
Men statues: “they made people feel quite uncomfortable” Made on old photographic paper – words scraped on with a pin (ouch) and head collage.
ALL these things are about to take off. Arrow found in the weekend papers, strange words: ‘sno-cats, majestic peaks, penguins and seals, fur seals and colorful markets’ found in the index page of an old encyclopedia.
I found some men with interesting expressions. (best faces found in Money and Sport sections)

SILLIEST LYRICS EVER!
You got it on the side
A little one night thing
I’ve thought it over and this time I will forgive you
Well I’m not letting go
But don’t forget I know
You made your bed and she was in it
No no no
What’s she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What’s she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What’s she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What’s she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
Well I’m not blaming you
But she’s still hanging round
And she’s so crazy I’ll tell you now I just don’t trust her
She thinks she’s right on time
But I think she crossed the line
And I’m ready for the light
I’m ready if it’s fighting time
What’s she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What’s she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
What’s she gonna look like with a chimney on her?
